Every grandmother is a model. They model as an example to their family of how to handle all of the challenges of life. This piece is a recreation of a modeling photo of Lovely Hill (Maxwell's grandmother). She was one of the first Black models for Clairol, Pepsi-cola, Mum deodorant, Chesterfield cigarettes and many more. Maxwell struggled as a shy and unmotivated kid, especially in his early school days. Lovely's confidence and guidance in difficult times served as a model for Maxwell discovering his self-worth and voice. This photo teaches us to always have confidence - even on "rainy days" or difficult times.
