Maxwell Pearce
Artist Bio
Maxwell Pearce is an award winning mixed media artist and a Harlem Globetrotter from Tuckahoe, New York, who challenges how we perceive humanity in and out of sports. His inaugural collection debuted at N'namdi Contemporary for Miami Art Basel in 2022. He had pieces acquired by the LA Dodgers, Detroit Institute of Art, the Pittsburgh museum of Diversity and Culture, the Westchester County Hall of Fame, and more.
Maxwell Pearce’s work emphasizes the multi-dimensionality of being an athlete and a total person. His textured mixed media pieces are created out of sports equipment and shoelaces - which he believes to be the common thread between so many of us. His sculptures maintain historical and contemporary references through inspirations like important people, moments, ideas, family members, and also athletes. His perspective as a professional athlete and an artist gives him a very unique vantage point.

NFL My Cause My Cleats
In partnership with the NFL and RISE, Maxwell Pearce hand-painted cleats and sneakers for four players. They would wear their shoes in the week 13 games during the NFL’s “My Cause My Cleats” initiative. Pearce customized each pair of cleats to raise awareness about a cause of their choice. RISE then auctioned off the cleats with the money going to the athlete’s philanthropy of choice.
RISE’s Champions of Change Shoe Auction was created to give fans a chance to walk in the shoes of their favorite athletes, who share their personal perspectives on race, identity, social justice and activism. The customized cleats and sneakers featured in the auction will also be showcased in February at RISE’s Champions of Change fan booth at the Fan Experience for Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.
